On August 6 at 7:00 PM, a screening of the film Patient No. 1 will take place in Helsinki.
This Russian feature film, directed by Rezo Gigineishvili, tells the story of the late Soviet Union. General Secretary of the CPSU, Chernenko, lies in a government clinic. He is old and frail, but holds onto power tightly. "Power is only taken, it is never given," he repeats. This situation is convenient for both the elites and the security services — as long as the "body" is alive, various factions gain their political points.

After the screening, in an online Q&A format, you will have the opportunity to discuss the film with its director, Rezo Gigineishvili, the lead actor Alexander Filippenko, and screenwriter Alexander Rodionov.
Don’t miss this rare chance to watch the film in Russian (with English subtitles) on the big screen in Finland, see the final role of the great actress Inna Churikova, and draw parallels to today, as you observe how, both then and now, power for some rulers stands above all values.
