Meeting with journalist and human rights activist Olga Romanova
On 25 November at 18:00, Helsinki will host a meeting with Olga Romanova.
Olga Romanova is a journalist, writer and human rights activist, the founder of Rus Sidyashchaya (Russia Behind Bars) and co-host of the YouTube channel The Breakfast Show.
During the event, we will discuss contemporary literature, Russian-language journalism in exile, human rights, and the role of fiction in interpreting and understanding political events.
The event will also feature the presentation of Olga Romanova’s new book “Игра в бутылочку” (Spin the Bottle). It is a political thriller combining elements of neo-noir, satire and an alternative interpretation of recent history. The novel features party officials, KGB officers, ministers, spies and criminals, while many of its characters resemble well-known political and public figures.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event, with an opportunity to have them signed by the author.
The event will be held in Russian.
Admission is free with advance registration.
Places are limited.
We look forward to seeing you at Pasila Library, in the auditorium on the 2nd floor: Kellosilta 9, 00520 Helsinki
For those unable to attend in person, a live online broadcast will also be available.
