Memorial rally for Anna Politkovskaya in Helsinki

On 7 October at 17:00, we will gather in front of the Russian Embassy in Helsinki to honour the memory of Anna Politkovskaya and express solidarity with journalists, human rights defenders, and everyone who continues to stand up for human rights in Russia.

This day marks 20 years since her murder. Anna Politkovskaya was a world-renowned journalist, writer and human rights defender. Her murder became one of the most widely recognised symbols of how dangerous the work of an independent journalist and human rights defender can be in Russia.

The rally will feature speeches by Amnesty Finland Director Frank Johansson and journalist Iida Simes.

Organisations participating in the demonstration: Amnesty International Finland, Initiative FoReDi and the Democratic Community of Russian Speakers.
