March in Support of Roman Golikov and Everyone Facing Deportation to Russia

On May 22, a march in support of Roman Golikov and everyone facing deportation to Russia will take place in Helsinki.

Anti-war activist and asylum seeker Roman Golikov has been detained by the police and is currently being held in custody. A court hearing regarding his detention prior to deportation is expected to take place today. According to Roman, police officers told him that he would be handed over to Russian authorities at the closed Brusnichnoye border crossing.

Before arriving in Finland, Roman Golikov participated in protests and opposition activities and also donated to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK). Because of this, he now faces criminal prosecution in Russia, as well as serious threats to his life and health.

We are taking to the streets to draw the attention of the Finnish authorities to these reckless decisions and to stand up for all Russian asylum seekers facing deportation back to Russia, where they risk persecution under the violent Kremlin regime.

📍 We gather at 15:00 at Helsinki Central Railway Station

At 16:00, the march will begin through the city center.

More information about the march is available from the organizers, “Queer Asylum: Finland”:
