Lecture “Liberalism as a System of Peaceful Cooperation”

On 13 September at 15:00, we invite you to a lecture in Helsinki entitled “Liberalism as a System of Peaceful Cooperation.”

Why do societies choose cooperation over conflict, and what role do liberal ideas play in this?

During the lecture, we will discuss how different principles of liberalism — from free trade, private property, and equality before the law to secularism, freedom of thought, and the advancement of science — contribute to peaceful coexistence between people and states.

We will explore how economic cooperation and interdependence can reduce incentives for conflict, why human rights and freedoms are essential for social peace, and whether the spread of liberal values can actually make wars less likely.

The speaker will be Alexey Shrub — a programmer by profession, a political philosopher by vocation, and the author of the book Ratiocracy.

After the lecture, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and join the discussion.
