Initiative FoReDi Invites You to the Alexei Navalny Memorial Evening

Writer: Initiative FoReDiInitiative FoReDi

13 years ago, Alexei Navalny created the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which through its investigative journalism and exposure of corruption schemes, opened the eyes of many Russians to what was happening and united millions of people who continue to fight for the truth and persevere, bringing closer a better Russia of the future.

On September 20 at 5:30 PM, Initiative FoReDi invites friends and like-minded individuals to the Alexei Navalny Memorial Evening.

❗️The event will begin with a discussion of a civic initiative to rename the square around the Russian Embassy in Finland in honor of Alexei Navalny. Since many Russians in forced exile may not be able to visit Russia and Alexei Navalny's grave for a long time, we believe that those living in Finland should have a memorial where they can pay their respects to the Russian politician who was killed for his beliefs. Activists will talk about their idea, legal limitations, and other possibilities for preserving the memory of Alexei Navalny in Helsinki.

Finnish and Russian politicians will take part in the meeting, but it is important for us to hear your opinion as well. Be sure to attend and share your ideas.

🎵The evening will continue with a musical and poetic program. Songs based on the poems of contemporary Russian-speaking poets about war and emigration, in Russian and translated into English, will be performed by Maria Konoshenko (mezzo-soprano, composer). Musician Mikhail Ionin from Paimio will perform songs on the guitar.

There will be tea and coffee at the event. If you wish, you can bring small treats to share.

📍The meeting will take place in the very center of Helsinki, at Luckan, Yrjönkatu 27.

Doors will open at 5:20 PM, and the organizers will greet you outside. If you have trouble finding the place or arrive late, you can message Nikita.

Admission is free. Welcome!
