Apple Inc. has been silently complying with the demands of Roskomnadzor, removing applications that help Russians access reliable information under conditions of strict censorship. Recently, apps such as Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Current Time, various VPN services, as well as podcasts by The Insider and BBC, disappeared from the Russian App Store.
Today, investigative journalist Sergey Yezhov revealed that one of Apple’s shareholders is Norway's sovereign wealth fund, which adheres to strict ethical principles and avoids supporting companies involved in serious or systematic human rights violations. Sergey suggested sending a collective letter to the fund, urging them to address Apple’s actions in Russia.
Initiative FoReDi has supported this proposal by submitting its own appeal.
