The summer season for cleaning the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia is starting. Unfortunately, coastal waters are heavily polluted with floating waste and suffer because of people who treat nature irresponsibly. But each of us can contribute to cleaning the Baltic Sea — for example, by taking an eco-trip by kayak or boat.
You can join the project free of charge in Helsinki, Espoo and Oulu — just choose a suitable location, day and time. After registration, you will receive detailed instructions.
On site, you will be provided for three hours with a two-person kayak or boat specially equipped for collecting litter, life jackets, cleaning tools and other necessary equipment. The pick-up and return of the equipment are contactless, so there is no need to worry about a language barrier — and even introverts can feel comfortable.
After the cleanup, please remember to weigh the collected waste, throw it into the container and carefully put away the used equipment.
🪿 Important: if during the trip you decide to go ashore on an island, please remember that it is currently bird nesting season. Watch your step so as not to crush eggs, do not feed birds and do not approach them closely.
⚠️ In strong winds, beginners without experience in kayaking or boating are not advised to go out on the water. Participants must be able to swim. Bring a change of clothes, a bottle of water, a snack for a small picnic, and sunscreen if the weather is sunny.
