We will gather outside the Russian Embassy in Helsinki to show support for the musicians of the band StopTime, who were detained and sentenced in St. Petersburg for their street performances.The band’s vocalist Diana Loginova (Naoko) and percussionist Vladislav Leontiev were arrested for 13 days, and guitarist Alexander Orlov for 12 days, accused of “organizing an illegal public event” simply for performing songs by banned artists.

In addition, Diana faces administrative charges of “discrediting the Russian army,” which could lead to up to five years in prison.

The purpose of the rally is to draw international attention to the ongoing repression in Russia and to remind everyone that it is impossible to negotiate with a dictatorship.

During the event, we will hold banners in support of the musicians and sing their songs together with guitar accompaniment, including Noize MC’s “Swan Lake Cooperative.”
