Yesterday in Helsinki, the exhibition “Kalevala Behind Bars” by political prisoner Anastasia Dyudyaeva was opened

At the opening, visitors explored Anastasia’s artworks and took part in a letter-writing evening in her support. The exhibition will run until August 28, and everyone is welcome to write a letter to the artist. On a dedicated table, you’ll find pens, paper, postcards, and envelopes. Completed letters can be placed into a special mailbox. After the exhibition ends, all the letters will be collected and delivered to Anastasia in prison.

Please note that due to censorship in Russian prisons, some parts of your letter might be redacted. Try to write in a calm and respectful tone, avoiding political slogans. You can share something about yourself, nature, events in your life, or the emotions that Anastasia’s art evoked in you.

Letters written in Finnish or English will be translated into Russian, as prison censorship does not allow correspondence in foreign languages.

📍 The exhibition is held at the Maunula-talo cultural center: Metsäpurontie 4, Helsinki
