Taidekoti Kirpilä and Reitz Foundation Collections are located close to each other in the Töölö district. Both apartments originally belonged to art collectors who, after their death, bequeathed their homes to become museums open to the public.
When you visit these apartments, you not only explore fascinating collections but also get a glimpse of how people live in the heart of the city. Both apartments are located in classic residential buildings on the sixth floor, still inhabited today. You’ll ride in vintage elevators that are nearly 100 years old.
The museums feature rich collections of Finnish art from the 17th to the 20th centuries, a wide array of antique silverware, and curious artifacts from Finland’s imperial past.
Inside, wearing reusable shoe covers or barefoot, you can not only view the exhibits but also sit and soak in the bohemian atmosphere of Helsinki's cultural life.
The museums are open twice a week and free of charge to all visitors.
