Screening of the film Close Ones

On January 23 at 6:00 PM, we invite you to a screening of the documentary film Close Ones.

The film tells the story of the final months of the life of Dmitry Zimin, an outstanding Russian radio engineer and philanthropist, who chose assisted dying shortly before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It is both an intimate personal story and a sweeping chronicle of 20th-century Russia, unfolding as a profound family saga.

At the heart of the film is a thirty-year friendship between two men from very different worlds: Augie Fabela, an American police officer and former entrepreneur, and Dmitry Zimin, a Soviet scientist. They are bound not only by a shared past and joint business ventures, but also by one final journey set against the backdrop of an approaching global catastrophe.

The film includes dialogue in Russian and English (no subtitles).

You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. We will provide a large screen and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Plates, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, and a microwave will be available if needed.
