On October 1 at 18:00, a discussion on the topic "Censorship: the Language of the Internet" will take place as part of the project "How has the Russian language changed in the 2020s?"

We will talk about state and opposition media, censorship, disinformation, social networks, and artificial intelligence. Together with journalists, we will discuss words and expressions that have firmly entered common use: “official agenda” (официальная повестка), “methodichka” (методичка), “information sovereignty” (информационный суверенитет), “fake news laws” (законы о фейках), “media in exile” (медиа в изгнании), “bot farm” (ботоферма), “information dump/vbros” (вброс), “self-censorship” (самоцензура), “AI content” (ИИ-контент) and many others.

• Alexander Trifonov — journalist at the multilingual media outlet Satakieli.

The goal of the project is to improve the understanding of changes in the Russian language among Russia experts living in Finland. Based on the series of discussions, a Russian–Finnish dictionary of new words and expressions will be compiled.
