The “+50” in the conference title refers not to the age of the participants, but to the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, a landmark document signed in 1975 by 35 states, including the USSR, the USA, Canada, and most European countries. The agreement was the result of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), which later evolved into the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
This year’s conference will be attended by the President of Finland Alexander Stubb, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (via remote connection), UN representatives, and delegates from OSCE countries — including two official representatives from Russia.
The OSCE was founded on firm principles: peace, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law. However, since 2014, Russia has systematically violated these principles and, in 2022, launched a full-scale war against independent Ukraine.
Initiative FoReDi strongly condemns the organizers’ decision to invite an official Russian delegation, while Russia continues its aggression and spills the blood of civilians every day.
📢 On 31 July at 9:30, we call on everyone to join a protest in front of the conference entrance — to remind the world of the war that Russia continues to wage.
📍We will gather at Finlandia-talo, address: Mannerheimintie 13e (https://maps.app.goo.gl/zx91UMkCPeRV7P167)Bring anti-war posters, banners, and flags.
