On 25 November at 18:00, we invite you to a discussion as part of National Dialogue Day, dedicated to the theme: “Does an immigrant need Sisu?”
Sisu is a uniquely Finnish concept often associated with national character. It means perseverance, determination, courage, and the ability to keep going no matter what.
Together, we will explore this fascinating Finnish word and talk about:
• Have you had situations in Finland where you truly needed to show sisu?
• Are some people in Finland expected to have more sisu than others?
• What in Finland frustrates you, drains your time or energy?
• And finally – does sisu sometimes become an excuse? Maybe it’s better to change the circumstances instead of just saying “Sisu will help.”
This is not a debate, but a safe space for open and respectful dialogue following the Erätauko method, where the focus is on listening and being heard.
The discussion will be guided by an experienced moderator, ensuring that everyone has a chance to speak calmly.
👥 Limited seats – up to 10 participants.
📌 Participation is by registration only.
If you would like to join, please contact us at t.me/FoReDi_contact.
All shared opinions will be anonymised and included in a final report to help Finland better understand the Russian-speaking community and build a more empathetic social policy.
