You are warmly invited on June 7 at 18:00 in Helsinki to a charity staged reading of the tragic farce by Artur Solomonov,“How We Buried Joseph Vissarionovich” (A Play About Flexibility and Immortality).
The reading will feature professional actors and well-known public figures, including music critic Artemy Troitsky, educator Dima Zitzer, journalist Tatyana Felgengauer, and Tequilajazzz frontman Evgeny Fedorov.
Today’s reality shows that Stalin is not only not dead, but continues to exert a powerful influence on social and political life. Sadly, this influence is no longer limited to Russia—more and more countries are visibly leaning toward authoritarian and even dictatorial forms of government.
This event is a symbolic attempt to finally bury Stalin together, to highlight the deep connection between Putinism and Stalinism through artistic expression, and to provide tangible support to Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees.
Artur Solomonov’s play, through the lens of tragic farce, explores how Stalinism takes root in the soul of the modern individual. One cannot respond to such a topic in purely serious tones — which is why this play is not only timely and terrifying, but also incredibly funny.
Venue: Kurkimäen Korttelitalo, Karpalokuja 7.
All proceeds will be donated to the volunteer organization Rubikus.helpUA to support the evacuation of Ukrainian refugees.
We look forward to seeing you there!
