Alexei Navalny was murdered in prison by the Russian authorities because he defended each person’s right to freedom, sought to bring democracy to Russia, and to open people’s eyes to what was really happening. We want the memorial in Helsinki not only to honor Alexei Navalny but also to show the international community that there are many Russian-speaking people who want to live in peace and freedom.
📍 The project has been approved by the City of Helsinki, and the bench will be installed near the Russian Embassy.
Its main detail will be the red legs, symbolizing the first letter of Navalny’s surname, “Н”. The bench will also feature a plaque with his words: “If I am killed — don’t give up”, along with inscriptions in four languages: Russian, English, Finnish, and Swedish.
💶 The fundraising is officially registered with the Finnish Police (RA/2025/1398) and will last for three months.
