A Meeting Dedicated to the Work of Director Zhenya Berkovich and Playwright Svetlana Petriychuk Took Place

Writer: Initiative FoReDiInitiative FoReDi

Last Friday, a meeting was held to discuss the work of director Zhenya Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk.

Participants watched the play Finist the Brave Falcon, which became the reason for the "Theater Case." As a work of art, the play gains new layers of meaning each year, and every time it is watched, it reveals something new to the audience. After the screening, everyone shared their impressions: some saw feminism in the play, others saw love, and some found humor, but everyone agreed that there is no justification for terrorism, as the creators of the play have been accused of, and sentenced to six years in prison. If you haven't seen the play, you should definitely watch it.

After the screening, participants had the opportunity to write letters to Zhenya Berkovich and Svetlana Petriychuk. You too can support these strong and talented women — information on how to send them a letter can be found here.

A big thank you to all the participants! Special thanks to playwright Mikhail Durnenkov for the opening speech and to A-ryhmä for their help in organizing the event. We will certainly hold such creative meetings more frequently, as they are essential both for supporting those who remain in Russia and for those who are in forced exile.
